Hotel Conrad New York (NYC Guide)

The Conrad New York Hotel is located in Manhattan close to the One World Trade Center and across from the Mall Brookfield place. Just minutes from Wall Street and the financial district.
You have a wonderful view of the Hudson River.

Brookfield Place Mall

This Mall is high-priced and many well-known designers are located there. Gucci, Omega, Burberry, Bottega Veneta, and Zegna. Hermes opened its only single flagship store for fragrances right here. Specially for the New Yorker, a candle was created with the name: “the shop around the corner”. You can buy that candle exclusive here.

There is an ice skating rink located directly in front of the Mall. The Mall has a stunning Palm Garden. 650 lights illuminate the Interior of Brookfield place in constantly changing colors. Unfortunately only a few days left. The winter garden is in the atrium of the Mall. There are lots of events music and artistic is home throughout the year. With a relaxing Cup of coffee, you can admire the $50Mio expensive Palm trees.

Rooms

The Conrad Hotel New York has 463 suites. All bright and friendly furnished. Water, tea and coffee is included. Wi-Fi works great anywhere and is also free of charge. My Suite had two beds. I absolutely loved the pillows. Some suites have beautiful views of the Hudson River with skyline. Especially in the evening really nice. I’d really liked the idea of changing soaps. If you don’t like the fragrance or your skin has problems with that, the Hotel has different soaps and shampoos. Just ask and you will get another line.

You can separate the room with two doors from each other. So if one wants to watch one movie in the bedroom and the other one wants to watch something different – no problem. Just close the doors and switch one of the two TVs on.

Bathroom

The bathroom is divided. There is a toilet and a sink in one. Another room (a real room) is the shower. Big enough to take a shower with more people if you like. 😉

Hotel

The hotel is impressive. The high ceilings, the many Windows, the incredible artwork and the really friendly staff.

Conrad New York works closely with artists (especially local). You can see and feel it in every corner. You can find over 2000 works of art throughout the hotel. At the rooms, in the Atrium, in the corridors – simply everywhere.

Shop

Of course there is also a Hotel Shop at the Conrad New York. I found the Cup collection particularly cool. The artist wrote for example on the sugar dispenser not just “sugar” (sugar). He wrote shuguh. Why? Because in Brooklynese you pronounce sugar “shuguh”. These and other words are written on the coffee service.

Restaurant Atrio

The restaurant Atrio is located in the atrium of the hotel. On the weekends the bar is filled with locals. The restaurant itself offers a variety of upscale food. The kitchen is open and you can watch the chefs how they prepare the dishes.

Dinner

I had an incredibly delicious appetizer – fish on a fruity tomato sauce (calamari,scallops, Gambas) and mozzarella tomato. Fish $19 and Burrata$18.

The main course was steak with salad or potatoes. It was delicious. The meat was very tender. It was a little unusual for me getting the meat already cut into pieces but I’m from Europe. 😉
The price $38 is absolutely acceptable for the quality of the meat and this great side dishes.

Breakfast

The breakfast takes place in the same restaurant. There are no typical “breakfast offers”. All food must be ordered separately. But, it’s worth it. Everything is prepared fresh and according to needs. The staff is very attentive. I just found the cappuccino for $8 a little expensive. But the breakfast was amazing. The fruit and the eggs were so delicious and tasty!

Rooftop Bar

Unfortunately the rooftop bar was closed. It opens in April. I was allowed to shoot a few photos. 😉 It will be awesome in Spring/Summer.

Bottom line:

This Hotel is definitely an experience. Who loves to be in a luxury place while being in a City like New York is absolutely right at the Conrad New York. The rooms here are quite big whats not typical for NYC. You can even relax with kids in one room (suite) without having problems. They are bright and friendly. Another advantage is that it’s really quiet at night. The area is relatively “new”. Many taxi drivers didn’t know the address and had to enter them into the GPS. On the days you can walk to many locations because they are very close from the Hotel. In the evening there are not many people on the street in the area (because of there are mostly offices). I would take a taxi. I really liked the Hotel because it was always inviting, comfortable, airy and bright and friendly – despite its size. I appreciate in particular the close cooperation with artists.

Tip:

The prices at the Brookfield Place Mall are a little higher than other locations. You can find a great coffee shop at the back exit of the Conrad Hotel New York (in front of the Mall). They have amazing soups and sandwiches. If you buy a sandwich at the Mall you have to pay approximately 8$. At this coffee shop will cost you 4$ and a sandwich starts at 3$.
